The embrace

The tango embrace is not really an embrace in the sense of the hug, or to embrace someone. It looks like it, but it isn't the same. The social hug is a gripping, stopping although pleasant exchange of affection or acknowledgement. The tango embrace is the encircling of one circle by another circle. The followers circle is encompassed by the leaders circle . There us a connection point in the hands as they gently loosely clasp. And if you are dancing closer or close embrace then more connectivity of the circles exist. The circles are tangential, they touch . But they do not restrict. This is key.

The arms do not exist as two, it us as if one arm encircles the follower.
Allowing freedom of motion within the engulfing circle.
